Frequently Asked Questions

What is a doula and how can they help during childbirth?

A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional, physical, and informational support to women before, during, and after childbirth. They offer continuous support and advocacy to help you have a positive birth experience.

What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?

While both doulas and midwives provide valuable support to expectant and new parents, their roles, training, and scope of practice are fundamentally different. The key distinction is that a midwife is a medical professional, while a doula is a trained non-medical support person.

They often work together to provide comprehensive care—the midwife manages the medical aspects, and the doula provides continuous comfort and advocacy.

I need help with breastfeeding! What kind of support do you provide?

As a Certified Breastfeeding Specialists I have undergone extensive breastfeeding trainings and clinicals (and will continue to advance my training) while working towards my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification. During my successful 5 years of breastfeeding between my 2 kids - I did not know any aspect of Lactation so therefore I took the time to self-educated and read alot of books on the topic.

Therefore, I will provide my undivided physical, mental, and emotional support. I will do this by providing latch support for any problems you my endure. I will be your biggest cheerleader and encourage you during your feeding journey! I will work with you to address any supply concerns you may have. Breastfeeding can be challenging- I get it - I will be your very own emotional support person!

What support do you offer after birth?

The Fourth Trimester (or the first months) after childbirth by far can be one of the most physically and mentally challenging phases of motherhood a mother will face. As your support person I will provide Postpartum Doula services to you. This would include newborn care education, light housekeeping, meal prep / grocery shopping, lactation support, emotional-mental-physical support.

Overnight newborn care is available.

I also offer extended Mother's Helper services to women at the time help and support may be needed most.
